Umm…., resident of Florida over 45 years here, and I can tell you with GUSTO, that you forgot Tiger sharks. I’ve seen MANY instances where lifeguards called everyone out of the water because of 10-12 ft Tiger sharks, swimming along the shoreline 🤷♀️. Just sayin’… Tiger sharks are pretty deadly
I love Orange beach better.
Furthermore, The museums name has changed. It is now called the Orange Beach History Museum and the hours have changed as well. The New hours ate 9:00am - 4:00pm Monday through Thursday.
Uhhhhh. Closing at 6 and 7PM is not "open at night".
READ This for FISHING and for your safety : • This is a very dangerous company to place you life in the hands of 30 miles offshore. • They pressure their captains to sail under very dangerous conditions in unsafe vessels and put the lives of their unknowing guests in jeopardy. • I would definitely not recommend Olin Marler's Fishing or the Dolphin cruises because it is the same unsafe environment. It is only a matter of time before people die as a result of this unsafe operation which sails in dangerous conditions • The office staff is also very deceptive to people who know less of the ocean and vessel conditions, especially Kristy who will attempt to deceive you into believing it is safe to take your children out 30 miles in the ocean under a Small Craft Advisory with nearly Gale Force Winds.
It’s baycare ballpark now
I remember worker for Bernice Marler back in the late 70s. She had 3 boats she chartered. She inherited the business after her husband passed. She was a friend of my mother. I think Olin Marler was her brother in law not sure though. Great fun we had in Destin with the Marler’s boating business of fishing.
Hello there, I am the curator of the Orange Beach Museum. My name is Eric Daily. I have been employed by the city of Orange Beach for 20 years and have been curator of the museum since December of 2017. Just a couple of corrections here please. Not a one of the pictures in this video are of the actual museum. No, not a single one. And the canoe is actually 27 feet 3 inches long. and has a weight of about 1,000 pounds. Thank you.
I really enjoyed watching this video, please make more!! You may want to take a look at 'Promosm'!

The “but,” comment that might save you a trip to the hospital! I appreciate the very brief introduction to potentially dangerous sea life along the shores of the Gulf of Mexico (most frequently, the popular Florida Gulf Coast). There were some critical dangers that were overlooked, likely due to time constraints or lack of experience. A primary example is the barracuda. Any licensed diving or even a professional snorkeling guide will ask that you keep shiny reflective jewelry in your home or hotel. If you do not, then you’ll have to trust the boat crew to hold your jewelry so that you might be allowed to dive, without risking harm to yourself or others. Barracuda are notorious for mistaking the glint, gleam or shimmering reflection of gold and silver jewelry as fish ripe for consumption. The resulting bites, especially if one is wearing a necklace or bracelet, can lead to a bite that penetrates critical arteries. Such extensive blood flow doesn’t go unnoticed by otherwise less than bothersome sharks, as well as the shark most responsible for the most severe and even fatal attacks: the bull shark. Think about it. Experienced fishermen use shiny metal lures, called “spoons,” to catch fish. When you are wearing shiny metal jewelry - you are bait. Stingrays are ubiquitous along the Florida Gulf Coast. During mating season, the glide effortlessly well above the sandy bottom, and are relatively harmless (as long as one doesn’t grab one, thinking themselves invincible). I have shuffled among multiple schools of these gentle creatures which have numbered in the hundreds - without incident. The key word is “shuffle.” In the summer months, stingrays bury themselves slightly beneath the sand, and prey on small fish and crustaceans. Their venomous barb isn’t a tool for capturing their dinner, but rather a defensive weapon to avoid being stepped on by humans (and to ward off different predators). Though related to sharks, the common stingrays found along Florida’s Gulf Coast would rather not use their barb to inflict injury on a human, as they will likely suffer potentially equal damage (e.g., being crushed by an animal that weighs 15 times more than they do)! A beachgoer who learns the “stingray shuffle,” will frighten away these otherwise gentle creatures long before foot meets barb. It’s no coincidence that knowledgeable Florida beach and boating aficionados who do get stung typically have a blood alcohol level that creates within their minds a false sense of invincibility (based on those I’ve had to take to the first aid stations). Shark bites, and especially alligator bites, are extremely rare. Most happen near two specific areas: one is where landlocked travelers flock to Florida Panhandle beaches during the summer months (e.g., Destin, Fort Walton Beach, etc.) where disturbed waters make it difficult for sharks (especially the poor-sighted and aggressive Bull shark) to see. Shark attacks rarely occur on Florida’s popular central and southwestern Gulf Coast beaches, but rather on the Atlantic coast. The difference in geology (the water gets deeper much quicker) and the outpouring of turbulent muddied brackish (mostly fresh) water into the highly saline waters of the Atlantic (especially in the New Smyrna Beach area) create a perfect environment for the occasional shark attack. Okay. Reality time. Countless millions swim in both the Gulf and Atlantic beaches of Florida every year. The number of shark bites typically range from between 15 and 30; with two, maybe three resulting in serious injury or death. Truth be told, more vacationers and locals alike are far more likely to drown, courtesy of rip currents and rip tides than to be attacked by denizens of the deep. Learn the “Stingray shuffle,” and search UA-cam for rip tides/rip currents, and how to escape the same, to learn how to avoid becoming the next statistic. For a sobering dose of reality, accept that you are more likely to be struck by lightning while simultaneously being swallowed by a sinkhole than fall victim to any of the above - but that makes for boring UA-cam content. See you at the beach! -brad 😎~°~~
Sheeeeesh
Overtouristed.
Do bring a bullet proof vest. Don't stand still when the shoots start ringing out.
Halloween is the worst time to come as a haunted location!!!! I swear as an investigator, who has debunked quite a bit, but still this land(lots of this land) it's like they know and literally NOTHING will happen on Halloween, it's like they know!!! Our spirits are NOT circus, they do what they want, WHEN they want and it does not matter what day or whether the "conditions" are right!!!! NOT EVERYTHING IS A GHOST, BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO MAKE IT UP IN AUGGIE, SO DON'T!!!!!!!
بورنو 😥
First
plantations and slavery…how romantic
Goode vening!so breathtaking edition. guy,;)
Out of the sharks you listed the thrasher shark is probably the least of our worries since they usually inhabit deeper waters and are usually very timid. The bull shark is the one to worry the most about since there known for being very aggressive and can venture into freshwater. Plus they’ve even been known to bite horses and other animals that dare to drink from the rivers there in.
dude the gaftop cats hurt man, i remember getting stung in my foot by their barbs, the pain lasted a couple days honestly

@@Tripshock thanks but too late, I was in NOLA 2 months ago right after I wrote that while looking for open activities. We did the Natchez and it was pretty good.
Very helpful, thank you! The beach is absolutely _gorgeous_ and the warm emerald water is so inviting, but in addition to a rainy forecast the riptide has double red-flagged swimming. Damn the luck! 😭
I found one of those catfish in Panama City beach Florida on a resturant on the beach We went to the beach while we were waiting for our turn to be sat down at the restaurant and it was laying on the beach close to the water it was dead
Fuck I'm going to Florida in a couple weeks and this makes me not want to go 🤣🤣🤣
Dolphins should be in the ocean
I was stung by a jellyfish in Pensacola. It hurt but the pain went away without treatment. Maybe half an hour?

More than a billion people go into the ocean all over the world every year. The number of people killed by sharks is between 10-20 globally. You have better odds of winning the powerball lottery than being killed by a shark. Jellyfish are the only one I'd really keep an eye out for. If they are in the water I'd stick to a swimming pool.
There Was Jellyfish At The Beach And Didn’t Get Stung
